Literacy Tutoring

In Literacy, I provide explicit teaching using Systematic Synthetic Phonics. I complete diagnostic assessments and work with students at their specific point of need. ​Games and activities that use auditory, visual and kinesthetic-tactile learning helps to build strong connections in the brain.

I have a wealth of knowledge about literacy from my many years as a Literacy Leader in primary schools across Victoria. I follow a systematic approach to reading using the five elements of effective reading instruction: Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary & Comprehension.

I have completed numerous training courses in evidence-based programs including Sounds-Write, Little Learners Love Literacy, Reading Simplified, Helping Older Students Read and more. 

Numeracy Tutoring

Many students lack confidence in their own mathematical skills or may be missing some of the foundational skills and general number sense. I support students to build the strategies they have in their 'toolbox' for tackling maths work. I use games and lots of people hands-on materials and visuals to help give students a better understanding of how maths works, as well as increasing their number fluency. 

Remembering and knowing is good, but understanding and applying is better.
