About me

My name is Michelle Waterman or Mrs. Watermelon to many of my students. I have been teaching in primary schools for over 20 years and have a wide range of educational expertise.

I have completed courses Sounds-Write, Little Learners Love Literacy which are both Systematic Synthetic Phonics programs, providing the necessary teaching needed by students to unlock the reading and writing 'code. 

​

I also work as a Literacy Consultant, working with schools to improve literacy instruction for all students.

I am passionate about helping students and families achieve their best in all areas of their education.

My years of experience teaching in the classroom and as a literacy leader provides me with a wealth of knowledge about literacy and how students learn best.

I also have a passion for numeracy, teaching in a hands-on, real world way, that helps bring on those light bulb moments.

Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family. Whether it be walking in the Cobaws with our dog, Rufus or cooking some tasty treats with my kids.
